Bridge House/ Grace House provides long term residential substance abuse treatment to men and women, who are homeless, indigent, uninsured and or unemployed. These services are offered in an atmosphere that validates each resident as an important member of our community. Shreveport, Louisiana / $15,000
Formed in 1996, the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana, has doubled the amount of food it collects and distributes. The organization has grown from 3 trucks and drivers to 7 vehicles and 9 drivers. Food is given to 120 non-profit agencies, 80 churches, soup kitchens, 45 school groups, 54 rural neighborhood sites, and 27 benevolent groups (fire departments/councils on aging) who actually feed the hungry in person.

Food Bank Northeast Louisiana
Monroe, Louisiana / $15,000
The objective of the School Pantry Program is to help alleviate child hunger in Northeast Louisiana through the provision of food to children and their families at school. School Pantries are located on the grounds of a school and are intended to provide a more readily accessible source of food assistance to low-income children and their families. Our School Pantry sites are consistently in the same location on each school’s campus, have set distribution schedules, and offer ongoing food assistance services.

Second Harvest Food Bank
New Orleans, Louisiana / $15,000
South Louisiana has some of the highest rates of poverty, hunger and diet-related illness in our nation. Our Cooking Matters Program is a six-week course series that offers hands-on cooking and nutrition education classes to help low-income mothers and children make healthy and affordable eating choices. At the end of each class, participants receive recipes that correspond to the day’s lessons and a bag of groceries so they can prepare the recipes they learned in their own homes.
